Supervisor Romaine And Councilwoman Cartright Kick Off 9th Annual Great Brookhaven Clean Up In Port Jefferson Station
Port Jefferson Station – Supervisor Ed Romaine (second from right) and Councilwoman Valerie M. Cartright (left) joined members of the Port Jefferson Station–Terryville Civic Association to thank them for their participation in the Great Brookhaven Cleanup on May 21. This year the civic association cleaned up an area of the Greenway Trail in Port Jefferson Station. They spent the day picking up litter and beautifying the area by removing overgrowth and brush which was infringing upon the trail.
More than 3300 people participated in the Great Brookhaven Cleanup at over 100 locations throughout Brookhaven Town. It was co-sponsored by the Town of Brookhaven’s Department of Waste Management and Keep America Beautiful, Inc. The Annual Great Brookhaven Clean Up is part of a national effort that draws nearly 2.5 million volunteers in more than 15,000 communities across America who came together to pick up litter, renew parks, and clean miles of roadway, rivers, lakes, and seashore. This group helped by picking roadside litter along Route 25 in Middle Island.
