A Medford Man Was Killed In An Early Morning Motor Vehicle Accident In Rocky Point

Rocky Point – Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a man and injured another in Rocky Point on Tuesday morning.
Sean Carpenter was driving a 2002 Subaru Outback southbound on County Road 21 when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a 1991 Nissan Sentra, driven by Jose Amaya.
Amaya, 55, of Maple Lane, Medford, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Carpenter, 25, of Medford, was transported via the Rocky Point Fire Department to Stony Brook University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Seventh Squad detectives at 631-852-8752.
