Ridge Man Among Four Dead In Fiery Two-Car Crash In Middle Island On Monday Night

Yaphank – Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed four people and injured two others last night in Yaphank.

A 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling southbound on Yaphank-Middle Island Road when the driver, Gustave Geyer, lost control of the vehicle and struck a northbound 2014 Nissan Altima in front of 275 Yaphank-Middle Island Road at approximately 10:45 p.m. Both vehicles caught fire following the collision.

Geyer, 25, of Ethan Allen Court, Ridge, who was alone in his vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the Nissan was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Two passengers in the Nissan, a man and a woman, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A female passenger in the Nissan was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue with life-threatening burns and head injuries. An 11-month-old boy in the Nissan was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The names of the occupants of the Nissan are being withheld pending positive identification, however, detectives believe all five occupants are related.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
