Jonathan Viggiano lives in the hamlet of Brookhaven.  Growing up, his brothers loved their mom Billie Jean’s cooking.  “Growing up, us four boys were always fighting in the kitchen for mom’s food, before it was even ready”, said Jonathan.

Billie Jean passed away 11 years ago after battling pancreatic cancer.  Just over three years ago, Jonathan decided he’d had enough of his previous career in landscaping, and with his brother Ralph (who also works as a cook in the Hamptons) they decided to honor mom, and open Billie Jean’s Grill, a food truck specializing in delicious, fresh-grilled burgers.

Located just one block north of the Long Island Expressway on Sills Road at Long Island Avenue in Yaphank, Jonathan, Ralph and one part time employee serve up lunch and dinner, Monday – Friday from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Also on the menu are salads and healthier alternatives to burgers such as wraps featuring grilled chicken, and veggie burgers.  Starters and snacks featuring popcorn shrimp, mozzarella sticks, clam strips, french fries and onion rings are also offered.

In its third season, Billie Jean’s Grill is open in the spring, once the threat of freezing pipes for the food truck have abated, and remains open weather permitting, as late as December.

“We opened in April this year.   Last year we didn’t close until December.  The year before that was colder, so we knocked off in November”, said Jonathan.

On weekends Billie Jean’s Grill can be found in other locations at events.  “We’ll be at LIV Vodka in Calverton and then the Food Truck Rodeo at the Elks Lodge in Southampton this weekend”, said Jonathan.

During the colder months, they offer soups and hot beverages.  Year round, they offer soft drinks, homemade sweetened tea, lemonade and milkshakes.

Free internet is available for their customers, should they feel the need to stay connected during their meal.

So, if you’re headed east or west on the LIE and want a delicious quick bite, or if you’re traversing north or south on Sills Road, stop by.  You’ll be greeted with warm smiles, and great fare.  Like them on facebook, and visit their website at http://www.billiejeansgrill.com/home.aspx
