An East Patchogue Woman Died After A Motor Vehicle Accident In Bellport
Bellport – Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a woman in Bellport on Monday afternoon.
Muriel Erickson was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer south on Station Road when she collided with a 2001 Ford Explorer at approximately 12:55 p.m. The driver of the 2001 Explorer, Geraldine Schneider, had pulled out of an industrial park on Farber Dive and onto Station Road when the crash occurred.
Schneider, 62 of East Patchogue, was pronounced dead at the scene by a Physician Assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
Erickson, 79, of South Setauket and a passenger in her vehicle, were transported by South Country Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in East Patchogue where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.
Detectives ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
