Body Of Missing Boater Located On Monday Morning; Investigation Is Continuing
Great South Bay – The body of Andrew Weis, the boater who was reported missing on August 13, was recovered today at approximately 10:20 a.m. in the Great South Bay, approximately 1/2 mile south of Copiague Harbor.
Detectives from the Major Case Unit are continuing the investigation and are asking anyone with information to call 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

Great South Bay – Suffolk County Police and the United States Coast Guard are actively searching for a boater reported missing last night whose damaged vessel was recovered early this morning.
Andrew Weis left Gilgo Beach aboard his 13-foot boat in the Great South Bay on August 13 at approximately 5:30 p.m. with an intended destination of Lindenhurst. Weis, 48, of Lindenhurst, never reached his destination.
Weis’ boat was recovered this morning in the Great South Bay off Venetian Shores Park in Lindenhurst at approximately 7:30 a.m. on August 14.
Based on damage to the boat, detectives believe Weis was involved in a boating accident.
