Three Fatalities, Multiple Injuries In Sunday Morning Multi-Car Crash On The Long Island Expressway

Manorville/North Shirley – A multi-vehicle crash has the Long Island Expressway closed in both directions on Sunday morning.  The exact location wasn’t clear, however the call initially came in to the Suffolk County Police Department with the scene located in Manorville.

The crash occurred in the westbound lanes between exits 69 and 68, when an unconfirmed witness report indicated that an eastbound vehicle crossed the median, entering the westbound lanes.

A Suffolk County Police Department spokesperson confirmed three fatalities as a result of the crash, with “several other” injuries.

Most of the victims were transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center.  Peconic Bay Medical Center and Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center also received victims of the accident.

The Long Island Expressway is expected to be closed for an extended period of time while police conduct an accident investigation.
