Traffic Stop Leads To Arrests And Multiple Charges; Weed And Forged Credit Cards Found In Car
Setauket – Suffolk County Police today arrested two men for possessing forged credit cards and a credit card encoder.
Sixth Precinct Officers Jon-Erik Negron and Jennifer Mackey initiated a traffic stop after a vehicle went through a red light on Old Town Road and Sheep Pasture Road in Setauket at approximately 3:00 a.m.
During the traffic stop, the officers noticed a bag of marijuana on the rear seat. Further investigation revealed the license plate on the vehicle was fake, and the pair were in possession of four forged credit cards and a credit card encoder.
After an investigation, Identification Theft Unit and Sixth Squad detectives charged Olisa Uzoegwu, 20, of Elizabeth New Jersey with four counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Criminal Possession of a Forgery Device, False Personation, and Unlicensed Driver.
Chidubem Adi, 19, of Port Jefferson was charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, Unauthorized Possession of Marijuana, and False Personation.
Both subjects are being held at the Sixth Precinct and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on October 22.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
