Tractor Trailer Taken Out Of Service; Driver, A Medford Resident, Issued Summons For Not Having CDL
Patchogue – Suffolk County Police issued 27 summonses after a tractor trailer was inspected and taken out of service during a traffic stop in Patchogue.
Highway Patrol Bureau Officer Michael Becker conducted a traffic stop of a Peterbilt tractor trailer on westbound Sunrise Highway, east of Route 112, on October 26 at 8:52 a.m. after a license plate reader alerted him that the vehicle had a suspended registration.
Officers from the Motor Carrier Safety Section responded and conducted a safety inspection of the vehicle, owned by Gladiator Industries in Medford, at a park and ride in Patchogue. It was determined that the vehicle had 32 violations, 11 of which required the vehicle to be taken out of service. Gladiator Industries was issued 26 summonses for violations including defective steering, defective brakes and worn tires. The driver, Colin Proctor, 59, of Medford, was issued a summons for Operating Out of Class for driving a commercial motor vehicle without a commercial driver’s license.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
