NYC Man Sentenced For Menacing Estranged Girlfriend With Handgun

Central Islip – A Brooklyn man convicted of criminal possession of a weapon on school grounds and menacing charges for an incident two years ago on the SUNY Stony Brook campus was sentenced today to one and one-third to four years’ incarceration in state prison, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said.joseph-lloyd-mugshot

On October 4, 2014, Joseph Lloyd was arrested by Stony Brook University Police responding to a 911 report that a man forcibly entered an office on campus.

Lloyd confronted his former girlfriend in her office and threatened her with a handgun while demanding her cellphone.  After checking her phone, he fled the scene and was pursued by University police officers who pursued the defendant from the Stony Brook LIRR railroad platform into a wooded area where they arrested him and recovered Lloyd’s .38 caliber handgun.
