Longwood Middle School Student Named Suffolk County Pool Smart Contest Winner

Middle Island – Longwood Middle School student Elysia Tiess, a fifth grade student in Christopher Hampson’s art class, was recently named first place winner in this year’s Suffolk County Pool Smart Poster Contest.
Open to all elementary school students in Suffolk County, the contest promotes the importance of pool safety by inviting students to create a poster entitled, Be Pool Smart. Elysia’s winning poster will be used as part of a countywide message from the Suffolk County Department of Health Services in its seasonal safety campaign.
“Elysia is a very talented artist who created a beautifully designed poster illustrating the importance of pool safety,” said Longwood Middle School Principal Lisa Mato. “We are very proud of her wonderful achievement, and we look forward to seeing her design on the cover of the next pool safety brochure.”
