“Big League” Bandit Botches Alleged Bank Robbery In Bellport On Thursday

Bellport – Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred at a Bellport bank this afternoon.
A man entered Chase, located at 32 Station Road, at 12:08 p.m. and approached a teller while wearing a bandana covering his face. The teller believed the man was going to rob the bank and she pushed the silent alarm button and walked away from the counter. The man then fled the bank parking lot on a bicycle.
The man was described as black, approximately 40 years old, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a maroon New York Yankees baseball hat, a black bandana covering his face and a white T-shirt with the words “Big League” and two baseball bats on the front.
