Superintendent Losquadro Announces Completion Of 14-Road Paving Project In Bellport

Bellport – Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro joined with Councilman Michael Loguercio to announce the completion of a 14-road paving project in a residential neighborhood in Bellport.
Following several weeks of concrete work, including the replacement of 16,000 square feet of aprons and 12,000 linear feet of curb, the full depth reclamation process (FDR) began. During FDR, the existing roadway is recycled and mixed with different additives to produce the new pavement—essentially turning the old road into the new base. Crews then grade the roadway, compacting the material before paving begins with a new asphalt surface. The total cost for this project was $1.9 million.
“The deep freeze that occurred in Brookhaven Town during the winter of 2014 really took a toll on the roadways in this residential neighborhood,” said Superintendent Losquadro. “I was very happy to be able to move these roads off of our High Priority list and provide some long-term improvement for the residents in this area.”
Roads paved during this project include: Austin Street, Chadson Street, Curtis Avenue, Drake Avenue, Harrison Avenue, Hollow Street, Kyle Street, Malcolm Street, Megan Court, Michael Avenue, Party Drive, Reiben Street, Tami Court and Thrasher Avenue.
“This was a major paving project that not only improves driving conditions for motorists, it also helps keep pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists safe,” Councilman Loguercio said. “I thank Superintendent Losquadro and the men and women of the Highway Department for the important work they do in my district and throughout the Town.”
