Port Jeff Station Man Facing Multiple Charges After Search Warrant Executed Early Friday Morning
Port Jefferson Station – Suffolk County Police today arrested a man on weapon and drug charges following the execution of a search warrant at his Port Jefferson Station home early Friday morning.
Following an investigation into an illegal weapon on Champlain Street, Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives, with the assistance of Emergency Service Section officers, executed a search warrant at the location at 2 a.m. Once inside, a .45 caliber handgun, a 9 bullet handgun magazine, multiple bullets, heroin and cocaine with an estimated street value of $20,000 and more than $12,000 were recovered inside a safe.
“The Suffolk County Police Department will not waver in our commitment to take illegal guns and drugs off of Suffolk County streets,” stated Suffolk County Police Commissioner Timothy D. Sini. “We are dedicated and determined to follow every credible lead, work with our law enforcement partners at every level of government and continue to create new innovative initiatives such as our Firearm Suppression Team and narcotics hotline to keep our residents safe.”
Edison Cabrera, 33, who lived at the residence, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, two counts of Criminal Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
