East Yaphank Man Injured In Shirley Motorcycle Crash

Shirley – Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist on Saturday in Shirley.

Richard Vilk was operating a 2003 Harley Davidson westbound on Crestwood Drive East at 5:20 p.m. when his motorcycle struck a 2006 Nissan Frontier, driven by April Crianza, who was traveling southbound on Rowlinson Drive.

Vilk, 48, of East Yaphank, was transported by Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Crianza, 56, of Shirley, was not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.  The investigation is continuing.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Seventh Squad 631-852-8752.
